A feng shui bedroom is one that has balanced energy and makes you feel safe. Here are some important things to consider:
1) Create a balance of Yin/Yang. Bedrooms should be more Yin (dark, quiet, subdued) than Yang (bright, loud, active). It is hard to relax in a room that shouts 'get active!'
2) Put your bed 'in command!' Be sure that your feet are not pointing out the door and that you can see the door when you lie in bed.
3) Get a solid headboard. A headboard (and a footboard) provide stability and protection.
4) Get off the floor! To get the best rest, energy should circulate freely around you when you sleep. Your bed should be raised off the floor to allow this to happen.
5) Store NOTHING under your bed. Everything has energy and, if you store stuff under your bed, you absorb its energy while you sleep. This can be a real problem if, for example, you store tax files or guns under your bed!
6) Be aware of what's on the other side of the wall. If the head of your bed is on a wall opposite a stove or toilet, or there is a window over your head, you could be negatively affected from its draining energy. Do whatever it takes to move your bed's position in the room.
7) Look at imagery in artwork. Create a sacred space that is conducive to rest, rejuvenation and romance. Images of battle scenes or stormy seas are not recommended.
8) Place things 'in pairs.' Create equality in your relationship by having equal-sized lamps and night stands, two candles, and artwork/statuary that has things in pairs.
9) Eliminate EMFs - electromagnetic frequency energy. That's right! the TV, computer and other electronics have to go!
10) Remove anything to do with work or working out. Ironing boards, treadmills, office files, and other work-related 'stuff' doesn't belong in your bedroom. Move 'em on out!
