E-Newsletter for February 2012

Year of the Water Dragon

According to Chinese astrology, 2012 is the Year of the Water Dragon. This is believed to be a year of great change and personal challenges. Brace your self, set powerful and positive intentions and enjoy!

In order to re-charge my own personal chi, I traditionally I take a break from doing feng shui writing, consultations and workshops for the month of December. This year, despite my best efforts, challenges with aging in-laws and an old dog had left me energetically depleted. The period of time I call my public 'Feng Shui Fast' lasted for almost 10 weeks! Thankfully, things are getting better and I know it is time for me to 'get back on the horse' ... or in this case, 'the dragon'... so to speak and get busy once again. So, if you are interested in hosting a workshop, booking a 'Lunch and Learn' for your work, or want to find out more about consultations, please give me a call.

In this e-newsletter, be moved by words and the power of intention (video), enjoy some fun facts about dragons and enjoy a poem about love.

My intention is that the contents of this newsletter will inspire you to embrace love in any way, shape or form that it comes to you... from lovers and others, including children, extended family, friends, the deity of your heart, the majesty of Mother Nature, and even your animal companions!

With blessings and gratitude,

Fun Facts About Dragons

In Chinese astrology the dragon is...
  • associated with power and wisdom.
  • the only animal of the Chinese zodiac year that is not real.
  • quite special and very much revered.
  • not seen as a threatening evil being as we do in the west - rather a symbol of power, superiority and rule.
  • seen as a powerful almighty king because it was made up of different parts of animals such as a tiger, fish, snake and an eagle.
Feng Shui for Love Prayer
By Rev Laurie Sue Brockway
(Reprinted with gratitude and permission.)

Please bless this household and all who live here and enter.
Please help me to remove negativity, old patterns, and anything that blocks my path to love ...
While still empowering me to feel secure and centered.

Help me open the doors and windows to love ...
Yet give me the power of discernment and clarity when it comes to relationships.

Help me fill my life with love and laughter and joy ...
And create an environment that supports and magnetizes more of the same.

Help me fill the rooms of my home with welcoming grace ...
And with energy and design that lets my true love know this is home.

Let the sun shine through these windows and bring happiness.
Let the moon shine down from the dark night and bring balance and peace.

May the blessings of the elements and all the directions surround me with loving guidance.
I choose to be ready for love, and to live the truth of my desire. I choose my most perfect partner.

Help me create a home and environment that welcomes true love to my door.
And please let me be present and willing to open the door when true love knocks.

Feng Shui for Bathrooms

The bathroom can be your home's biggest energy drain. Some people may tell you that it is the toilets that are 'bad' Feng Shui. That's not true! Bathrooms (and toilets) are recognized as essential! It is the location of the toilet, not the toilet itself, that is an energy concern.

Happy Birthday to All Dogs!

Chinese New Year Day 2. On the second day of this two week celebration the Chinese pray to their ancestors and are extra kind to their dogs because it is believed that this day is the birthday of all dogs.

Halleluiah or Bah Humbug?

Christmas can bring out the best (or the worst) in people
Feng Shui can help make it better!
This time of year, when the days are short and the nights are long, the sparkle and glow of holiday decorations play an important role in lifting our spirits.

But for some people, an over abundance of holiday décor may be too much of a good thing. The winter solstice marks the most ‘Yin’ or dark time of winter. By adding Christmas lights, a tree, and a ton of bright red and green decorations, we are intuitively trying to change the ambiance of our homes by adding ‘Yang’ or bright energy.

Booked on Feng Shui: Your books speak volumes

I subscribe to feng shui newsletters from many of North America's most well-respected feng shui experts.

I particularly enjoyed this post from author Carole Hyder  and share it with you with her kind permission. Enjoy!

Most everyone I know owns books. Some people have skads of them—so many, in fact, that they’re stored in boxes in the basement. There are some people who can’t let go of their college textbooks from 30 to 40 years ago. Others love their books so much they wouldn’t think of keeping them in boxes—so they’re stacked in various corners waiting for the right place to call home.

Feng Shui and Bathrooms

STOP flushing wealth
down the drain!

Let’s Talk Toilets!

According to the principles of Black Sect Tantric Buddhist (BTB) Feng Shui, toilets are not generally considered to be negative influences. In fact, toilets are recognized as an essential part of any structure and should be honoured for doing that all-important job of eliminating human waste. (After all, it has to go somewhere!)

So much emphasis is put on the toilet because it is the king of all energy drains in our home, representing 60% or more of waste water flow. (Another good reason to call it a ‘Throne!’) Rather that label the toilet as a bad thing, we look at its location in the home and apply some simple feng shui cures to ensure that waste, not wealth, goes down the drain.

A quick way to STOP your wealth chi from being flushed away...
no more yawning toilets!
